Calling a contact from the mobile app
The Call button sits on a contact's profile and in a conversation's header whenever the contact has a phone number. It can place the call two ways:
| Option | What happens | Who sees the number you call from |
|---|---|---|
| Call from my phone | Opens your phone's own dialer with the number filled in. The call runs on your SIM (company line or personal). | Your own number |
| Call from a ConnectWiz line | Uses one of the workspace's call lines (phone line, WhatsApp), exactly like the Calls tab. Only offered when that line may call this person. | The ConnectWiz line |
If no ConnectWiz line can reach the contact, Call simply opens your dialer. When both are possible you get a small choice sheet; switch on Always call this way to skip it next time.
Choosing your default
Settings → Calling → When I tap Call:
- Ask (default) — show both options whenever a ConnectWiz line can also reach the contact.
- My phone — one tap opens the dialer.
- ConnectWiz line — one tap calls on the line, when exactly one line can reach the contact. With several lines you still pick, because the line decides what the customer sees and who is billed.
The default is stored per person on this phone.
"How did the call go?"
When you come back to the app after a call from your own phone, a card asks how it went: Reached or Not reached, plus an optional note. Save adds it to the contact's history as Called from a phone (who, when, outcome, note). Don't log discards it.
The duration shown is an estimate: the app measures how long it was in the background, which includes ringing. Phones do not let apps read the call log, so nothing more accurate is available. A call that did not connect is saved without a duration. If the app was closed by the phone during a long call, the card still appears on the next launch, without a duration.
The history shows on the contact's profile in the app and on the contact page in the panel (Called from a phone).
For admins
- Plan feature Calls from members' own phones (
mobile_phone_calls) is on by default. Switching it off removes Call from my phone, the card and the history list; ConnectWiz lines still work. - Permission Log calls made from their own phone (
phone_calls.log) is held by every built-in role. Revoke it from a person and they can still call, but the app no longer asks how it went. - The app never asks for the Android permissions that read or place calls
directly (
READ_CALL_LOG,CALL_PHONE): the dialer is opened with the number, and you press call yourself.
