Rich messages (blocks)
Most messages are plain text. But a message in ConnectWiz can also carry richer, structured content called blocks — buttons a customer can tap, cards with an image and title, image previews, file chips, and more. Blocks are how the product (and, later, the bot) sends an interactive reply instead of a wall of text.
note
This page is the user-facing view of message blocks. If you build on the API and need the exact shapes, see the developer guide on Message blocks.
The block types
A single message can combine one or more of these blocks:
| Block | What the customer sees |
|---|---|
| Text | Plain text — the everyday message body. |
| Buttons | A row of tappable buttons, optionally introduced by a short prompt. |
| Card | A panel with a title, an optional subtitle, image and buttons. |
| Slider | A horizontally-scrollable carousel of cards. |
| Image | An inline image, with optional alt text and dimensions. |
| File | A downloadable file shown as an attachment chip. |
| Translation | Text shown with both its original and a translated version. |
When you see blocks
- Buttons and cards turn a reply into a guided choice — for example "Track my order" / "Talk to a human" buttons, or a card showing a product with a Buy button.
- Images and files let a reply include a picture or a downloadable document inline.
- Translation blocks carry both the original wording and its translation, so a multilingual team can see exactly what was said and what was rendered.
Good to know
- A message can mix block types — for example a short text prompt followed by a row of buttons.
- Plain-text messages are simply a single text block under the hood, so nothing changes for everyday chatting.
- The set of block types is fixed by the platform; you choose which to send, not invent new ones.
